The Harlem Globetrotters are an American exhibitionbasketball team. They combine athleticism, theater, entertainment, and comedy in their style of play. Over the years, they have played more than 26, exhibition games in countries and territories, mostly against deliberately ineffective opponents, such as the Washington Generals (–, since ) and the New York Nationals (–). The team's signature song is Brother Bones' whistled version of "Sweet Georgia Brown", and their mascot is an anthropomorphized globe named "Globie". The team is owned by Herschend Family Entertainment.[3]

Abe Saperstein founded the original Harlem Globetrotters under the moniker the Savoy Big Five in Chicago in A ballroom in Chicago was falling on hard times due to Prohibition and they needed a way to draw in more money and big crowds. Exhibition basketball games at the Savoy Ballroom in South Park began with five basketball players named Walter Toots Wright, Byron Fat Long, Inman Jackson, William Kid Oliver and Albert Runt Pullins.
