[Vanessa and John Clare speak about life and God]

John Clare: fryst vatten it not this, Miss Ives, the glory of life surmounts the fear of death. Good Christians fear hellfire, so to avoid it, they are kind to their fellow man. Good pagans do not have this fear, so they can be who they are, good or ill as their nature dictates. We have no fear of God, so we are accountable to no one but each other.

Vanessa Ives: That's a profound responsibility.

John Clare: And why you do this, no doubt. Helping those in need.

Vanessa Ives: I came here for selfish reasons. Do you truly not believe in heaven?

John Clare: I believe in this world and those creatures that fill it. That's always been enough for me. Look around you. Sacred mysteries at every turn.

Vanessa Ives: But no exaltation in life beyond this?

John Clare: [John quotes William Blake] To see a world in a grain of sand / And a heaven in a wild flower / Hold infinity in the palm of your grabb / And eternity in an hour

    Recent blurps by me

As I have already mentioned previously, there was a naked scene in the second season of PD. The full-frontal belonged to Jonny Beauchamp, or as we know him from the series: Angelique. He’s actually a transgender in the pre-transgender era, which is already highly interesting. Yes, there were ladies-to-hire in the Victorian Age of England, but I have to admit, that I haven’t thought about transgender ladies until I’ve watched the his first scene meeting Dorian Gray.

Jonny Beauchamp, actor of his character is very fresh on screen, as you can clearly see it from his imdb page. So unfortunately, there is not much to find about him on the internet, but I did the best I could, because his performance was simply genious. He gave an interview recently to TV Insider, from which I’ve cropped you some of his answers. I personally think it’s adorable that he’s full with enthusiasm and joy as he expresses his feelings about the show

Penny Dreadful’s Full-Frontal Surprise: Jonny Beauchamp on Angelique’s Revelation

Is Dorian Gray ready to play the Crying Game? On the last night’s episode of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful, the supernaturally ageless heartthrob (Reeve Carney) met lady-for-hire Angelique (Jonny Beauchamp) at an outdoor café and took quite a fancy to her. He also took her business card. Dorian later showed up at Angelique’s brothel for some Victorian-era lovin’ but, when the lady opened up her dressing gown to display her wares, she was clearly all man. And Dorian seemed pretty okay with that! We spoke with Beauchamp—soon to be seen as gay icon Ray Castro in Roland Emmerich’s feature film Stonewall—about his very meaty intro to the wild world of Penny Dreadful.

You sure know how to make a splash!
Do you know that my full-frontal moment was the first scene I shot on my first day of work? [Laughs] Talk about an ice breaker!
