Ellen Calipari has brought new meaning to the term “trash talk.”

While it usually refers to banter intended to rile one’s opponent, the trash talk from the wife of University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari focuses on a topic many of us can relate to: the division of household chores, specifically who’s taking out the trash at her house. On her popular Instagram account (@cal_mrs), she often posts images of a certain pair of containers – deemed by one follower as “the most famous trashcans in Kentucky” – waiting forlornly: They may or may not make it to the curb, depending on whether her husband (jokingly referred to as “roommate”) is in town or remembers it’s trash night.

There’s a fair amount of good-natured trolling going on with the faux drama that Ellen Calipari stirs up on her social media account, and her 50, followers can’t get enough. It’s all an ongoing joke between the two about the inconsistency

John Calipari is one of the top coaches in college basketball. While the highly successful Kentucky coach feeds off the spotlight, his wife, Ellen Calipari, does not. Ellen is just the opposite – reserved, quiet and prefers to cheer alongside the massive amount of Kentucky fans in the stands.

Ellen spoke with WKYT about their differences. “We’re about as opposite probably as you can be, as much as he’s out there I’m hiding behind the scenes, some place else,” Ellen told WKYT.

Early life and education

Calipari was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the oldest daughter of basketball coach John Calipari and Ellen Calipari.^[2] Calipari took part in athletics while attending vit Station High School. She played softball, basketball and hockey. She was part of the first generation in her family to intend to become an academic.^[3] Calipari attended University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she studied biology and played basketball for the UMass Minutewomen.^[4] Her contribution in her freshman årstid was signified by her debut, when she played one minute of game
