While Martin Clunes is best known for his role in Doc Martin, he is now taking on a new role in the Welsh-made drama, Out There. However, he is not the only member of his family involved in the show.
His wife, Philippa Braithwaite, a successful TV producer, has also worked on the show, with the couple also working together on Doc Martin. Philippa has been the producer for every series of Doc Martin and has also produced other shows featuring her husband, including the ITV drama Manhunt and Martin Clunes: Islands of the Pacific.

They have one child together, Ellie, who appeared in an episode of Doc Martin as a child but has since pursued a career in equestrianism. In past interviews, Martin has said that he enjoys working with Philippa and is happiest when she is by his side.

Sharing the secret to their long-lasting relationship, Martin said humour is key. "At the end of the day, I suppose, everybody should marry my wife. But too late, I already did," he told Saga Magazine in 2022. "And I'm not letting her go.
"I can't totally analyse why it works, although I suppose some things are obvious; we make each other laugh, for example, and I know I have to make my wife laugh to keep her because her dad was very funny, too, and she's funny and so is our daughter, Emily."
