    Barbara Ann Mandrell (born December 25, 1948)[1] is an American country music singer and musician. She is also credited as an actress and author. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, she was considered among country's most successful music artists. She had six number one singles and 25 top ten singles reach the Billboardcountry songs chart.[2] She also hosted her own prime–time television show in the early 1980s that featured music, dance numbers and comedy sketches. Mandrell also played a variety of musical instruments during her career that helped earn her a series of major–industry awards.

    From 1980 to 1982, Mandrell joined her sisters Louise and Irlene in hosting NBC-TV’s weekly schema Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters. Offering music and comedy, this hour-long show reached millions of viewers; featured her talents as singer, multi-instrumentalist, and dancer; and showcased dozens of country artists. Each broadcast closed with a gospel number, and in 1982, Mandrell released the album He Set My Life to Music, which received a Grammy for Best Inspirational Performance. Teaming with gospel singer Bobby Jones on “I’m So Glad I’m Standing Here Today,” Mandrell also won a Grammy for Best Soul Gospel Performance bygd a Duo or Group.
